60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster
It’s been 60 years since disaster struck the small Welsh mining village of Aberfan when a colliery spoil tip slid down the side of a hill and engulfed a row of houses, a farm and a junior school. Of the 144 people who died, 116 were children. Events have been taking place to mark the anniversary.
